Candyland

March 31st, 2007 by anne071974

I completed my second set of lampwork beads using a colour palette yesterday. I am really enjoying using the palettes, matching glass colours to them.

Here is the palette I used…

Made with glass colours: ink blue, periwinkle (base), opal yellow, transparent dark lavender and bubblegum pink.

I broke the beads up into three parts, a focal, a small pair (perfect for earrings) and a set of three. Here are the beads…

These beads are all etched as well.

Cheers!

Mulberry Wine

March 27th, 2007 by anne071974

I’ve decided to try making lampwork beads using colour palettes. This means that I’ll take a colour palette, of about 5 colours and only use those colours in some beads.

Well, yesterday, I had my first torching session using a colour palette. I’m really pleased with the end result. I did have some trial and error beads, where I was using another colour as the base but once I changed that they came out beautifully. To be honest I wish I hadn’t etched them in the end, while they look great etched, they just seemed more lush when shiny. I may make another set and leave them shiny… may… lol

This is the colour palette that I used.

The glass I associated with it are… light turquoise (which I used as the base), violet, black, rubino oro and dark pink.

And these are the beads. I also added Lauscha Supernova for the bumps.

Mulberry Wine

I’m just wondering, for the people that buy my lampwork beads. Would you like a photograph like the one above where I’m holding the beads in my hand? For sizing reference? Or are you all fine with just the group image?

Sydney Royal Easter Show

March 26th, 2007 by anne071974

Well, I dropped my entries for Sydney Royal Easter Show’s competitions on Saturday. I’m entered in the Wirework, PMC and Lampwork categories. When I dropped mine off, there was only one other lampwork entry, two other wirework entries, and no other PMC entries. I wonder what arrived after I had been.

I was thinking about going to the show specifically to see the other entries and competitions but the price is $31 per adult! I couldn’t believe it when I saw that price! I will have to think about it. The show opens the day before Good Friday so that’ll give me two weeks to decide. If I do go, I dread all the kids, crowds and noise. One thing I’ve come to realise, being home full time makes me appreciate the quiet lol

Well, I promised photos of my entries, so here they are. They’re not the best pic’s but they will give you an idea of what I made.

First my entry for the Wirework category, it included chainmaile. I made a euro 4-in-1 bracelet in sterling silver, with keishi pearl flakes and light amethyst AB Swarovski’s. Unfortunately, the pictures really dont do this piece justice. It is incredibly sparkly in person.

- Clasp

My PMC piece is a PMC pendant with red coloured resin, sterling silver chain, and garnet rondelles and briolettes. This is actually my first piece of PMC jewellery ever!! The only other PMC pieces I’ve done is where I’ve wrapped it around a couple of lampwork vessels, and they weren’t really the best lol

- Close Up

- Clasp with drop

And lastly my lampwork entry. You had a choice of entering a piece of jewellery using your lampwork beads, or a set of 5 beads. I decided to enter a set of 5. Some of you know that I made a waratah bead early last year. For this set I made three waratahs and two sturt desert peas. I expanded on my original waratah making larger petals and leaves off mandrel and I’m really pleased with the results. I also made a small stand to put the beads on, I chopped off a piece of peppermint gum that we had lying about, cleaned it up and stuck some old pieces of mandrels into it.

- Close up of waratah

- Close up of sturt desert pea

Well I hope you all like what I entered. Wish me luck!!

Cheers

As I was working on my Easter Show lampwork entries, I had a play during a break.  As a result I have three new focals. These focals have the marbled backgrounds again, but this time I didn’t etch them.  I’m really enjoying the marbled backgrounds, the colour combinations are endless.

Anyway, enough natter!  I’m sure you want to see piccies! lol  So here they are:

Ebay Again…

March 22nd, 2007 by anne071974

I’ve decided to give Ebay another try again with my lampwork beads. This time though I’ve listed them on the US Ebay, I’m not sure if it will make any difference but I can only try.

I ended up buying an Ebay template, it looks so much better than anything I could of come up with. My coding skills are very much limited lol

It also gives you all a chance to purchase my beads at a lower price, as I start the auctions at approx. 20% off my regular price. The prices listed are in US dollars but work out right with the exchange rate.

I’ve just listed one set so far, my Dreamscape set. If you want to have a look-see you can find them HERE.

The Bead Swap

March 18th, 2007 by anne071974

Well I did say that I would post the photos of the beads I made for the bead swap on the beading forum. The main theme was time, and it was broken into three sub themes, prehistoric, roman times, and the depression.

Prehistoric - for this theme I thought of petrified wood and amber.

Roman Times - When I first saw this I thought it said roman tiles lol so of course I researched roman mosaics. The wave design was a very common design used in alot of roman mosaics.

The Depression - Now this theme was really hard! I googled it and it came up with alot of images, mostly black and white. I found an image of a woman with a worried expression and alot of children to care for. So I made her into a bead, well tried to, I’m afraid the bead didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.

Well, those are my three beads! I hope the recipient’s like them.

Cya!

New Customer Reward Program

March 15th, 2007 by anne071974

I’ve decided to reward my loyal, regular lampwork customers with a Reward Program. It will be tied to their total combined purchases, including the purchases to date.  Here’s the details (copied from my site)….

……….

What do you have to do? Nothing, just purchase as usual!

What do you get?

When your total combined purchases reach a value of $150.00, your future purchases will automatically receive a 5% discount. When they reach $300.00, the discount will increase to 10%, and when they reach $500.00, it will increase to 15%. The discount will automatically be calculated during checkout.

……….

So far, this is only for my lampwork bead customers. If I get more customers to my jewellery site, I shall probably start a Reward Program there as well.

Cheers!

Anne
