Noooooo!!!!

April 29th, 2007 by anne071974

I just ran out of gas!!! Boo hoo!!!  And of course stupid me never got my little back up filled after emptying it too!
I did manage to get the three last beads made for the set I’ve been wanting to finish.  I could really tell I was getting low on gas when I was working on the last one, kept hoping it’d last long enough to finish.  Thankfully, it did!

Even managed to get some short rod ends melted onto new rods so I dont waste any glass!  I have a heap of shorts that I need to melt together, I just get so lazy about them lol

Since my gas ran out I decided to give the shed a clean out.  I didn’t realise how much dirt and grit and tiny leaves had accumulated in there!   I completely cleared off my torching desk and washed the surface down.  Knowing my luck though, with all this wind we’ve had it will probably all be filthy again next time I go to torch!

I’m really dying for my studio/glass house now.   So many plans!  I’ll have a level floor, no wind with grit to fly in, decent visible storage, hopefully no spiders!!  I’d love to get it hooked up with electricity as well, so I have lights and outlets for the crock pot, etc.  Don’t know if that’ll happen though.  It’s getting to the stage where I’m tempted to get quotes from builders for it instead of buying it as a kit and putting it together myself (with help of course)  I have a visual in my mind, will have to wait and see if it’ll become a reality.

Ok, I just realised I’m rambling lol  So I’ll say toodle loo!  And catch ya later!

Duh Duh Duh Dummmmmm

April 28th, 2007 by anne071974

Well, two of my latest Ebay listings have had to be relisted.

The woman that won the auctions asked to be let off the hook.  I checked her previous feedback and believe her reason to be genuine so I let her know and applied for the fees to be credited.

Soooo this means that Veridios and Bacchus are available again!  I’ve only listed them for five days this time as they’ve already been around for a week.  I’ve also notified the losing bidders that they’ve been relisted so hopefully someone will want to give them a new home.

Any sets that don’t end up selling on Ebay, will be listed on my website and/or in my Etsy store.

I didn’t get any torching done today, been busy running around doing things.  I hope to finish a set tomorrow, as well as get some other beads made up.

Toodles!

Just Listed On Ebay

April 27th, 2007 by anne071974

I finally got around to finishing the fourth set I wanted to put on ebay. It revisits the same colour palette as my Marina beads, with a couple of changes in the colours used. This set I’ve also etched to give it a lovely soft matt finish.

Anyway, enough chatter! Here are the beads!

Coventina, The Celtic Water Goddess…

On some news about the colour palettes, I’m currently working on a new one, with another to be started soon. I’ll post more about them when they’re complete.

Cheers!

OMG! Bonus!

April 21st, 2007 by anne071974

I went to pick up my entries for the Sydney Royal Easter Show today, and discovered I get something extra for being picked for the Standard of Excellance display!

I got an extra ribbon (purple with a ruffled rosette) and gift voucher, but the thing that got me really excited is a gorgeous bronze medallion! It’s huge! About 5cm round and is rather heavy. Something to treasure for years to come.

Anyway, I couldn’t contain my excitement and had to show you all a scan of it. I scanned both sides.

Isn’t it great?! It says 2007 Sydney Royal Arts Show Standard of Excellence on the back.
*grinning hugely*

Cya!

Newly listed on Ebay

April 20th, 2007 by anne071974

I revisited a few of my previous colour palettes and made some lampwork sets specifically to list on the US Ebay. I actually managed to match two of the sets up with some hand dyed silk I bought last year that I never used. The other one I added some czech glass to.

Let me know what you think!

Devi… The Goddess

Veridios… The Green Man

Bacchus… The Roman God of Wine

I also have some cabs made up that I shall be listing on my site shortly. I’ll post some photos of them here as well when I have them ready.

Cheers!

The journey of my PMC necklace

April 14th, 2007 by anne071974

As most of you have read, I won first prize for my PMC necklace at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.  I thought I’d show you the journey I took while making it.  As it was my first pmc piece I took photos at several steps, now I’m glad I did.

I made this sketch early last year, at first thinking of making it in sterling silver and soldering it together, even though I’d never soldered at that time.  But in the end it decided it wanted to be made with pmc, so I was happy to oblige lol

Here is the first rough start to it.  I did all the scroll work with the syringe pmc, and built it up in thickness over time, waiting for it to dry after each step…

And after some tidying up and sanding…

I did some more tidying up after this point but didn’t get a photo before firing the piece.  Here it is all nice and shiny after being cleaned up and partially burnished…

After much more burnishing and polishing, I filled it with the lovely red resin.  I actually filled it twice, the second time I filled it a little too much.  You can see where it went over the walls…

I sanded and polished more and more, so the surface of the pendant was completely smooth…

In the end I decided against the top curl, so removed it.  Here it is with the garnet brio’s attached…

And finally finished with the chain with garnet rondelles and Bali sterling silver…

And here it is as I last saw it last Wednesday, in the Standard of Excellance display case at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.  I get a pretty blue ribbon!!  lol

And that’s the end of the journey!  It was sold at the show as well, so I hope it’s new owner loves it as much as I loved making it.

Mooooooo….

April 14th, 2007 by anne071974

LOL Sorry couldn’t resist!

I’ve ordered some Moo Mini Cards! They are adorable little cards that you can have made with your graphics/photos/etc on one side and text on the back. They’re about the size of a stick of gum. Too cute!

For the pictures I ‘artified’ some close up photos of my lampwork beads and cropped them in nice and tight, so the colours fill the card. If you want a peek at the images you can see them on my Flickr. The cards aren’t square, just my graphics lol On the back of them I just put my web address.
I’ll pop these in with orders, and just leave them around places I visit, maybe pop some in magazines at the newsagents and book stores… shhhhh lol Just have fun with them. Fun, fun, fun!

Marina

April 10th, 2007 by anne071974

I also got a chance to make a second lot of beads. Here’s the palette:

Colours used: light ivory (base colour), green avocado, transparent light teal, dark turquoise, and transparent dark blue.

And here are the beads:

Marina…

Under The Pier…

The light ivory and the turquoise reacted together and gave the dark lines through the beads. I really like these beads. I decided to make a set of 10 smaller beads as well as the larger focal this time. I hope you like them too!
Cheers!

Have some new lampwork beads to show, using the palettes again.

This is the palette:

Glass used: powder pink, transparent orange, coral (salmon, used as base), coral (terracotta) and a semi transparent orange.

Here are the beads:

Blazing…

Solo Flame…

The results are some very bright beads!
